Cost Benefit Analysis for VSD with new motor installation

Cost Benefit Analysis for VSD with new motor installation

(OP)
I am in the process of making the cost benefit analysis for installation of VSD with new 2600 HP, 6.6 KV motor on boiler Feed Water Pump application. I have already received the cost of doing this job. The cnectrifugal pumps are driven by this motor. Pump capacity is 250 tph at 200 bar. Boiler feed water requirement varies from 414 tph (when two such pumps are run) to 150 tph at the minimum. THere is a control valve that throttles the feed water flow going to boiler drum.

I need help from someone who has carried out payback / saving calculation for a similar application. Any suggestion or help on how to proceed is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Cost Benefit Analysis for VSD with new motor installation

Hi, I've seen this done before with good results, though not on a system this big. You only need to control 1 motor, the other 1 being on all the time. It's impossible to guess how much power you can save you need to monitor your existing system, you can hire the equipment, for a while under different conditions and workout the possible savings from the results. Don't forget to check with the tax office as some countries give money back for these schemes if they have approval.

Hello sabap,

There are many suppliers of Varaible Frequency Drives who allow you to download energy savings calculation software from their web-sites. You might want to try www.danfoss.com
