Kynar or similar?
Kynar or similar?
(OP)
I'm looking to source some Kynar sheet or a material of similar mechanical properties for machining some prototype parts from. The thickness I'm looking at is going to be 1" possible 1.5" and I only require a small amount, maybe 4 sq. ft.
Can anyone kindly recommend a source where I might be able to acquire this? I'm very open to cost effective alternatives to Kynar as long as the mechanical properties are on par.

RE: Kynar or similar?
Does Kynar = PVDF?
RE: Kynar or similar?
I was able to find compression molded 1" sheets at ProfessionalPlastics.com for much cheaper (cut to size) so I may go this route.
I'd still be very interested in alternatives to Kynar (PVDF). The prototype parts I'm having manufactured will be candidates for injection molding and currently I'm only concerned with the mechanical properties. However, the application is for the food processing industry where they may be exposed to: high temperatures (275ºF), caustics, acids, sunlight, and weather. (no direct contact w/ food).
ANy further input is appreciated.
RE: Kynar or similar?
If your prototypes don't need hi temp. and caustic resistance, try Delrin (acetal). UHMW/HDPE will be fairly close to same mechanicals as PVDF, but watch out at even warm temp.'s where the stuff will creep/relax.
