resolver wiring
resolver wiring
(OP)
I have an AC brushless servo-motor that operates on 280V, 3 phase, 7.3A. The manufacturer (ABB) does not provide support for this motor (it's about 10 years old). I am trying to control it by using the mounted resolver.
Does anyone know of a way to decipher the 6 wires that are coming out of the resolver? At this point, all I know is that there is a pair for excitation (reference), sine, and cosine (total of 6 wires). However, I do not know which is which!

i work for a servo motor repair company, and this is always a problem when connections are lost. but as long as mechanically resolver is in correct position then try enabling amplifier off load if possible and either motor will run away into high speed or draw very large current.shut down enable switch quickly if either happens and change over say red and black leads. if still wrong put back and change over yellow and blue leads. then put yellow and blue where red and black were and try again. sounds long winded but i'm sure you will hit on right connection when motor stands under control. have done abb made in italy servos in past. good luck.
