HELP on "setcatenv"

HELP on "setcatenv"

(OP)
Hi Everyone,

I recently installed CATIA V5R13, and I have been having problems opening CATIA files when the application (CATIA V5R13) is not yet running.

For example, I have a CATPart or CATProduct file on my desktop or any folder/location for that matter and double click on it to open the file, the file would not open and a License Manager dialog box appears indicating

"Environment not set or incorrect. Please set an environment using the setcatenv command."

and

"Requested product not found:_ED2.slt+"

Also, a windows dialog box appears with message

"Cannot find the file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Upper_part.CATPart'(or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

But, once my application is running (CATIA V5R13) i don't experience this problem. I cannot understand why that is?! For I did not experience this problem when I'm using previous version of CATIA V5 (R9 & R10).

Could anyone help me on this matter? Thank you very much!

RE: HELP on "setcatenv"

Your environment is not set to the default name.  Your System Administrator has probably set up one or more customized environment files.  I find that it is best to have CATIA running first.  This way, you can guarantee that you have selected the correct environment file.  Many companies run multiple environments, and multiple versions.  It is mandatory in these cases that you have the correct version running before you double-click a file in the file manager.
