Bonding Adhesive for epdm, nitrile rubber with s.g iron?

(OP)
Dear all,

Are there any good Bonding adhesives that will bond epdm or Nitrile rubber with s.g iron/stainless steel?.This bonding has to be almost as good as a vulcanised one since the rubber acts as a sealing for hydro-pressure upto 30 bars.

thanking in advance.

Some years ago my rubberlining Company tried to vulcanise some flat natural rubber tyres onto cast wheels  (Tyre was 2 inch wide and 0.25 thick) We could not get good adhesion - - we never found out why it would not bond. Whatever you finally decide, please run plenty trials before committing yourself too deeply.  Cheers D W

We have had a very good experience over many years using a special primer for stainless steel before vulcanizing nitrile rubber to it.

We stopped the production 5 years ago and I can't find the primer anywhere on the internet. Other ones must be available today.

To secure a perfect bonding you need to clean the steel surface down to the pure metal ( no oxides ) just before adding the primer.
