Solidworks assemblies into Catia V5

Solidworks assemblies into Catia V5

(OP)
Hello,

I have recently started using Catia V5. I have a few important assemblies in Solidworks 2004/2005 that I need to migrate to Catia. These assemblies contain parts with wireframe and thin surface elements!

I tried exporting into IGES from Solidworks, but the results are not what I expected. For instance all sketch elements are imported as part of a Geometric Set in Catia. Subsequently, I am unable to set anything other than "Reference" constraints on these elements:-(. They should be imported as part of a sketch for a part, not part of a Geometric set :-(

Is there any way I would migrate these Solidworks assemblies into Catia while keeping the projects as intact as possible?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
