Plotting to multiple 8.5 x 11 Pages

Plotting to multiple 8.5 x 11 Pages

(OP)
Thanks to the help yesterday, I have scaled my drawing, and my Sybex book helped me set up Layouts and make the drawing inside the layouts scale to what I want to print.

Since the print is a site layout traced from an initial scaled topo raster, I could actually output the thing across 9 8.5 x 11 pages to get the real world size I need to paste to cardboard and use it as a scaled pattern.  I can RealTime Zoom my Layout and see pieces, but is there a way to make sure if I plot 9 pages to get the size I want accurately divide and register?  (Think one of the old CorelDraw programs used to draw a large diagram across multiple pages)...

Well, it wasn't fancy, but I set the Layout to 1/16 inch = 1' on a Layout that had maximum print window with no templates or borders.  Then I used real time pan and moved the image to print different sections.  It actually printed on 4 pages.

Initially I was frustrated by a slight difference between the the top two and the bottom two... until I was watching the screen while playing with the mouse.  I suddenly realized the mouse wheel was changing the scale, so I taped the wheel, reset the scale, and printed out 4 more pages.  This time it worked.

I needed the 1/16" = 1' scale for a concept model topo, and have materials that will make this scale work.

There may be a more sophisticated way to do this, but at least I am cutting cardboard.  Dan.

RE: Plotting to multiple 8.5 x 11 Pages

We set up a print window (rectangle) to print from. We reuse that rectangle size when wanting to print a scaled window again. It will take experimentation, but you will need to try different window sizes to get the scale you need. The problem with small printers is that they want a margin which throws attempts at true scaling off. I hope this might help.
