I guess a Silicon Carbide type wheel

But are there any modern specials or designations that are good?

Thanks for any replies

RE: Wheel for cylindrical or surface grinding 316 Stainless

We use Al2O3 wheels for grinding SS.  We probably have 5 or 6 types and grits depending on the finish required.  There are other variables, coolant, feeds and speeds, material, and grinding process involved in cylindrical grinding that have to considered also.

Your best approach is to get with your consumables supplier or better yet a wheel manufacturer and let them recommend as specific wheel for your machine and the job at hand.
