No-Fill Outline DXF

No-Fill Outline DXF

(OP)
Ladies & Gentlemen

I am at my wits end. I have searched the Internet to no avail. Please help.

Needed: An AutoCAD DFX Export or Conversion Program

That Will: Export/Convert everything in the drawing to a
No-Fill Outline DXF file with true lines,
circles and arcs (not a million piece outline
as you get with a .PLT or .DXB file)

Regardless: of the entities used in the drawing.
This means lines beget lines, polylines with
width beget an outline of that polyline,
circles beget circles, donuts with no hole
beget circles, donuts with holes beget a circle
within a circle, an outline with a solid fill
begets the outline, text using .SHX fonts beget
a true outline of the .SHX font, text using
.TTF fonts beget a true outline of the .TTF
            (remember No-Fills) etc...
At this point I hope you get the idea.

Usage: My primary purpose for this file is to import the
Outline Geometry into SolidWorks. I have tried
the .PLT file out and convert to .DXF with some
success but this creates to many tiny lines and is
cumbersome to work with The same goes for the DXBOUT.

Questions: 1. Is there an existing program that will do
              this.
           2. Is there a programming genius out there that
can write such a program I don't think I am
the only one out here looking for such a
              utility.
           3. Is there any other "clean" way to get from
there to where I want to go without jumping
              through allot of hoops.

Thank You for listening to the ramblings of a mad man.

If you have searched to no avail. then I don't know what to tell you other then to keep doing what your doing.

You can pay to have this done. I'm sure it would not be that easy to write such a program to do that, plus the price you would have to pay for it. You are talking about writing a full application.

I don't think so.

RE: No-Fill Outline DXF

Have you tried the AutoCAD forum Forum555 ?

RE: No-Fill Outline DXF

(OP)
Yes. I have the same post to the AutoCAD forum.

RE: No-Fill Outline DXF

I have worked with DXF import/export with several CAD software. I have never seen a program to do this and never heard of a DXF translation as clean as you like, there are always issues with them.
