SI units for pipe thread

SI units for pipe thread

(OP)
Hi,

Can anybody provide some idea on SI units for pipe thread? One customer requirement is to use SI units for my proposed port size (female socket) 1-1/2"BSPP and 2"BSPP. Does it mean I must use metic size of M48x2 and M60x2 ? Thanks!

RE: SI units for pipe thread

We call it 40NB and 50NB pipe and 40BSP and 50BSP  threads. BSPT if it's tapered. But I am noticing some pipe taps are now marked G 1-1/2 or G 2, which is the topic of earlier threads.

RE: SI units for pipe thread

International nomenclature exists for pipe flanges.  Even on a metric project we refer to 1/2-inch female NPT, etc.  European threads exist.

You might just stick with your American thread designations unless client requirements define other nomenclature.
