Wipeout or hiding text on an inserted Raster Image

Wipeout or hiding text on an inserted Raster Image

(OP)
My company often inserts a raster image into CAD to use as a background object.  Most of our plots use portions of or the entire raster image.

Outside of erasing something on the paper version prior to scanning, what is the easiest way to "wipeout" or hiding a piece of text in the raster image?  Can this be done in AutoCAD or an image editing software?

Thanks in advance

RE: Wipeout or hiding text on an inserted Raster Image

In AutoCAD, Insert the image, then right click on the boundary of the image, select Clip, then New then Rectangular then use the mouse to define the area you want to use.  It may also be necessary to right click the boundary of the image, select Properties and then turn Show Clipped to On.

yes erasing from the original and re-scan is one way.

building on IFRs suggestion, (if text can't be clipped out)

copy image, then "clip" down to small size (just larger than the text you are trying to hide) make sure small image background is the same as near your text. then place small clipped image over the text (copy small image and place over more text if you have more to hide)

after all text is "behind" small clipped images then turn image frames off.

hope this helps.

There is also a command called wipeout. Type in wipeout, and it will ask you for a polyline or frames. Type in polyline and either select a enclosed polyline you've already made or create a new rectangle. type in wipeout again and enter f for frames, and you can turn the frame or outline of the wipeout on or off. Hope this helps.
