Currently I am working on a one family 4-story dwelling project. The design has to comply with 13D 1999. I only have 13D 1996 handy. Are these two any different in terms of residential sprinkler spacing and locations. Can you please highlight the differences?

RE: NFPA 13D 1999

biggest difference is the listing of the sprinklers. You will need to use the datasheets for the current head listings...all of the residential flows changed on July 12, 2002. The old flow rates were based on 0.03 gpm / sq ft, now they are based on 0.05 gpm/ sq ft.

spacing is still basically the same...make sure if you leave heads out of the bathroom that you know to include the shower in the area of the bathroom. That may have been a change from 99 - 2002.

Hope this helps.
