old ABB GRZ Ground Shield relay availability?

old ABB GRZ Ground Shield relay availability?

old ABB GRZ Ground Shield relay availability?

(OP)
I have an installed base of ground relays with zone interlocking capabilities with no spares.  I am trying to find some spares (about 20) to assist on swapping out during routine shutdowns.  They are no longer manufactured by ABB.  Does anyone know of a company that may sell/repair old relays?   The information for my units are ABB Type GRZ Ground Shield relay....Cat.#202Z9261.

Was the non-availability information from a vendor or directly from ABB’s Allentown, PA facility?   You may want to contact them directly for replacement recommendations.   Clifford Downs at +1.610..336.5249

RE: old ABB GRZ Ground Shield relay availability?

It was manufactured in Allentown like busbar said.  The suggested replacement as of 1994 was the GKC relay, but no zone sequence availability.  Go to:

http://www.abb.com/substationautomation

Under solid-state relays, you will find the GKC.  Check it out to see if it can meet your needs.

The microprocessor replacement is probably the ABB Microshield or the newest relay out of Allentown is the ABB REF610 Feeder protection relay.

RE: old ABB GRZ Ground Shield relay availability?

Some clarification on my last post:

There isn't a direct replacement for the GRZ relay since 1995, BUT Allentown still provides spare parts for this relay.

The Microshield is a 3-phase relay.  The Micro51 is the better choice, and is about the same price as the GKC if you were interested in a microprocessor relay replacement.

Hope this helps.

Try Solid State Exhange and Repair at www.solidstaterepair.com  They have repaired similar relays for me and usually can handle such devices if there is no "proprietary" chip involved.  Their primary specialty I believe is repairing solid state trip units on low voltage breakers.

Thanks all for your replies.   Yes the information was from ABB directly and they had mentioned that they could service them, but I was still in need of some spares.  Also, the zone interlocking function is required to maintain downstream coordination.  Thanks again.
