Importing STEP files

Importing STEP files

Importing STEP files

(OP)
I tried to import a couple of STEP files into SW2001+ and I get this message:

Can't open the error log file

After this message, SW proceeds to parse and create the model. Finally, I get this message:

"Importing large assembly. Components will be imported and suppressed. Use Unsuppress to show desired parts and sub-assemblies".

I click OK and I don't see anything on the screen. It's a blank assembly. And there is no features/parts in the FeatureManager that I can unsuppress.

What could be going on?

Thanks to all the readers.

RE: Importing STEP files

Where did your STEP file come from? Did they check the file before giving it to you, to make sure it was a clean file? It is always best to double check your work. It is a habit of mine to check these types of file before sending them out to a customer or supplier.

Also, how did they export the the STEP? AP203 or AP214? You might have them export the model as a AP203 if they used AP214. It seems the industry std for a STEP translator is AP204. I beleive AP214 is mostly used in the automotive industry.

I hope this helps,
