Catalyst Bed Temperature Sensors

Catalyst Bed Temperature Sensors

Catalyst Bed Temperature Sensors

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking for a instrumentation manufacturer that would provide a system for reactor temperature profiling. Not sure if there is a common name for the system, but it is gaining popularity with new hydrotreaters. Basically, its multiple temperature sensing points through a single nozzle. The sensors are "flexible" such that you can distribute them in any fashion throughout the catalyst bed, regardless of nozzle location.

I am basically looking for manufacturers that offer a comparable system to Gayesco's Flex-R or Flex-O series. I'm not bad-mouthing Gayesco, just trying to find what else is out there.

If you are familiar with such systems, what are your thoughts? Good, bad, hassle for catalyst loading, etc.?

Thank you for any assistance.

RE: Catalyst Bed Temperature Sensors

Hello blamba,
I know that we use fixed thermocouples for reactor bed temperature and we have a in-house built program to do the profiling. I can not recall any vendor who is into reactor temp. profiling. I will keep looking though. I also came across this good article about temperature measurement inside reactor and hope you will find it ineteresting.

RE: Catalyst Bed Temperature Sensors

Many temperature element manufacturers CAN build custom reactor assemblies.  Some process licensors provide drawings for their requirements.  You need to define your specific requirements (lengths, metalurgy, spring loaded, errosion guards, ...) then email the question to a dozen or so outfits that you find on the web.

RE: Catalyst Bed Temperature Sensors

Actually, I was doing a search on reactor profiling and ran acrosss this thread. The Gayesco products are patented in the US and with other countries. Its my understanding that big conductor, heavy walled thermocouples and sealing assemblies can't be found from anyone else. So for alot of the process licensors you have to go to Gayesco.
