where to find Acme screw model?

where to find Acme screw model?

where to find Acme screw model?

(OP)
I have been looking for an accurate full Acme screw, but any so-called models I've seen on suppliers sites are just simple cylinders.
Does anyone know where I can find a full model or information on drawing one?
TIA

RE: where to find Acme screw model?

You have hit upon what is missing in ACAD.  The problem is how to build a 3d helix in ACAD.  This function is in MDT and Inventor. I use an aftermarket plugin called 3DPOWER tools to build the helix which is listed in the eng-tips forum. Afterwards, I draw the screw blade and extrude the blade using the path option. Everything else is easy.

Hope this helps,
John

RE: where to find Acme screw model?

If you are looking for a helix, try www.3designersmate.com/download.
It is a free 3D spiral/ Helix application which makes a 3dpolyline for you.

Hope this helps
Paul
