Siemens PLC

(OP)
I´d like to know somethig,
   I have a Generator(10 MW,13.8 KV, 60 Hz,8050 RPM) and We
want to work it, in automatic; this means make the
starting from open beam valves to turbine and finally
sinchronize it.
My question is, is possible to do with a PLC, with out
any problem, because this Generator was made in 1972.

  Tanks a lot, friends
 Regards,

RE: Siemens PLC

Certainly.

You must sit down and specify exactly how you want the starting sequence to work - including safety procedures, and what it must do in an emergency.
When that done you can find out which PLC+HMI to use, and do the programming.

RE: Siemens PLC

javi,

it is very possible to hook up your generator to the PLC without any problem, even though it was made in 1972 provided it complies the requirements like: starting, start interlock and stopping sequence, the safety provisions, identifying the number of inputs and outputs, etc.

All you have to do is; an extensive planning..

RE: Siemens PLC

Absolutely!!! That is my business.

The most important things are very good synchronising and load sharing devices. In Ozz, I always prefer the locally manufactured Si-TEC Controllers. Leave Woodward stuff for dead. Not cheap though.

You only get what you pay for.
