Seek advise on an NC machine to tak

(OP)
Seek advise on an NC machine to take 3-D .STL files and produce an object whose visible surface matches that of the object. Desired output max size: H=45 cm, L=30 cm, W=30 cm (smaller could be OK to begin). Should be capable of thin (i.e. around 1-2 mm). Example: coffee cup from wood or a cat's head from marble. Rapid Prototyping with lasers, uv cured plastics, etc. won't always work for my needs.

As an EE I am untutored here. How do I specify such a thing.

Regards,
wzkb
