Kinematic Coupling

Kinematic Coupling

Kinematic Coupling

(OP)
Hello everybody,

Could someone explain to me, what is the kinematic coupling in abaqus. I have read the user manual. But I do not understand what is the function of the reference point?
Should this reference point have boundaries conditions? What happen then to the coupling nodes?

thank you!

RE: Kinematic Coupling

Hello Mereaux,
the kinematic Coupling is used to handle loadcases easier. For example: all the nodes at a surface connected to a reference node which has a displacement in the 1 direction must do the same if the degree of freedom is coupled to the reference node. there is no relative motion between the node and the surface in the 1 direction.
