I have to design some tanks for a site in Indonesia. The site is in Seismic Zone 3 from the Indonesian code. What would be the corresponding Seismic Zone Factor for seismic design to Appendix E?
Indonesia is divided into several zones with basic seismic coefficients as follows, for firm ground
Zone 1 - C=0.09, highest lateral load
Zone 2 - C=0.07
Zone 3 - C=0.05
Zone 4 - C=0.03
Zone 5 - C=0.01, lowest lateral load

AFAIK, Indonesia is divided to 6 seismic zone, which
very much different from API 650, from highest to lowest:
Zone 1: basic seismic coeff. for firm ground = 0.13
Zone 2: basic seismic coeff. for firm ground = 0.09
Zone 3: basic seismic coeff. for firm ground = 0.07
Zone 4: basic seismic coeff. for firm ground = 0.05
Zone 5: basic seismic coeff. for firm ground = 0.03
Zone 6: basic seismic coeff. for firm ground = nil
Most recent example, Nabire earthquake, is believed to be in Zone 1.
