Draw lines for section view

Draw lines for section view

Draw lines for section view

(OP)
I wanted to draw a line across the face of a circular object to create the section. However, I could not find a way to constrain the line to the center of the circle. Applying a drawing constraint did not work because it would not pick the center, and if picking the circle the only constraint offered was a tangent. Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: Draw lines for section view

Make the temporary axes visible and constrain the line to the desired axis.

RE: Draw lines for section view

If there is a circle, hold your cursor over the edge of the circle and the center point will highlite. Select the point, cntrl select the line and select the mate you prefer. If the main planes or the origin of the part is in the center of the circle, you can mate the line to one of them.

RE: Draw lines for section view

You can also highlight the line, right click, pick Select Midpoint, then cntrl select the circle and give it a concentric relationshiop.  This will put the section at the center and also make the section line the same length out both sides of the circle.
