Boler rehabilitation

(OP)
I am currently proposing the rehabilitation of our old Yorkshipley boiler (1965) with rated 60 HP and rated steam of 100 psi but unfortunately 70% is only utilize. Before that, I initiate Non Destructive Testing for data gathering if this unit is still conform for the safety operation.Result of the NDT show that the shell severely corroded and suffer advance surface roughening.Metal loss have occurred at the weld Heat affected zone.May I know your opinion if possible to rehab the boiler or purchasing a new one

RE: Boler rehabilitation

I suggest you purchase another. There are a lot of boiler in the market that is not only new but also efficient. As for your present boiler, eventhough you would be able to fire it, the cost of maintenance might still overcome the cost of buying a new boiler in a some years. Check the payback period of purchasing a new one versus the rehabilitation of your boiler.
