Copying a Group of Features???

Copying a Group of Features???

Copying a Group of Features???

(OP)
I have this panel in which I'm going to place a 3-hole-pattern (.250 center hole with 2x .102 on both sides) in various locations. Is there a way to group these three features (one cut, and 2 revolved cuts) so I can copy them to various places on the panel? Since I have created Datum Points for the placement targets, would it be possible to copy these features to the datum points?

I heard about "Group" but not sure how to use it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also I would show a JPG of what I'm trying to do, but not sure how to post one on this forum?

Thanks!

RE: Copying a Group of Features???

Yes you can group the cuts together to help with patterning. To group your cuts together select them in the Model Tree right click and select option to Group Features. You may need to have them ordered together so there are no features in between.

Depending on how your reference points were created and if your holes are placed colinearly, you may want to create a datum pattern if possible for the center hole and reference that point when placing your revolved cuts. Then you can pattern the center hole and Create a Reference pattern for your group using the patterned points.

I assume your pattern is not regularly spaced so you should be able to paste the group and pick the points you want your holes to be placed at.

To show a jpg please make a small copy of the jpg that's not to large so it will load quickly. Then place that photo on a shared webpage ang enter the following in your message.

and it should show in your post.

you will see that "img http://eng-tips.com/images/logo.gif" displays the Eng-Tips logo in my signature below when the quotes are replaced by [ ].
