Lightweight Red Feather!?

Lightweight Red Feather!?

Lightweight Red Feather!?

(OP)
Does anyone know why in SW 2005 there are two colours of feather when parts are loaded in lightweight.

Some are light blue and some are red. I thought it might be due to an error on the part but it would appear that even some parts that have no errors still have the red feather!!

RE: Lightweight Red Feather!?

Do you have two versions of SW installed?

I have SW2003 & SW2004 installed.  We use mainly 2003 at the moment.  I noticed that sometimes SW2003 sketches will get the sketch icon from SW2004.

I installed 2005 straight over 2004 from a download to save waiting for the disks through the post.

Thanks

Stu

RE: Lightweight Red Feather!?

You NEVER write directly over an old version of SW - you make a new installation into a new directory. You will probably have weird problems with your SW, because of writing over top the *.dll files or leaving old *.dll files form SW04 around.

As for what your seeing - can you post an image because there is nothing in the help of what your talking about, nor the What's New.

OK point taken.

How do I go about posting an image on the site?

RE: Lightweight Red Feather!?

Okey dokey. I'll give it a bash tonight when I get home.

I have noticed that SW2005 is a lot more unstable than 2004 was. I am guessing that you are going to advise me to re-install 2005 after removing the previous 2004/2005 hybrid??

RE: Lightweight Red Feather!?

Blue feathers:  Lightweight

Red feathers:  Out-of-date Lightweight (the save time of the part is more recent than that of the assembly, so the view you are seeing may be out of date)

RE: Lightweight Red Feather!?

Scoobystu,

Yes I would because SW05 is very stable for just about everyone I have spoke too that uses it. See my FAQ on reinstalling - FAQ559-488

MElam,

I know I should have known the answer to this...? but I couldn't not find it??? Where did you find it at, if you didn't know it already? If in the help where? I was unable to find it in the help. Although I think it should be in there somewhere.

RE: Lightweight Red Feather!?

I already knew this one, but did find it in help also.

I did a search on "out of date lightweight" (so it helped to know it already).  Found info under heading of "Component Icons in the FeatureManager Design Tree".  It is also under "Large Assembly Mode Options".
