Unknown Error...

Unknown Error...

Unknown Error...

(OP)
I have just upgraded from SW2004SP4.1 to SW2005 and I am receiving this error when I try to open a part or assembly from our network:

Unknown error opening "X:/Project/file name here.sldpt"

When I click OK, it crashes and this error comes up:

SolidWorks has terminated due to an unhadled error.

Please help!!  It is very frustrating as I can't open anything off of the network.  It runs locally just fine.  We are running Novell Client Version 4.80.2.

RE: Unknown Error...

Try opening the file on another SW seat. If the file fails there then it's possibly a corrupted file and needs to be sent to your VAR and then to SW.

If it works on the other users system, then the problem is Isolated to your system. You can from there run maintainence on your system (See SolidWorks Installation FAQ Section in this forum) Running a repiar might fix your seat. Even though you just installed it, doens't mean that the install went fine.

Novell is not liked by SW and feeling is mutal for SW as well. If you can't open up over the network then your network is most likely the problem.

Thanks for the reply.  The files open on other seats and I ran the repair tool on the SW installation disks after the initial install didn't work.  I will re-install and try again.  Thanks once more.

I clear my temp folders once or twice a week usually and always before any new install.

RE: Unknown Error...

I talked with a SolidWorks Hotline rep a few days ago about this same problem...turned out that my comp was set up to keep the temp files "hidden", which caused me and the SolidWorks cleanupmgr to miss them.  Well, after the re-install, things still would come up with the famous "unhandled error" messege.  Interestingly enough, the 65,283 (no joke) temp files (drawings, pdf's, you name it) were clogging my comps memory...problem solved.
