using assemblies cloning in NX-2

using assemblies cloning in NX-2

Hi All

I wish to clone an assembly and keep the original file name.
I cant seem to find the correct settings to enable this.
Can anyone help?

TIA
Dave

RE: using assemblies cloning in NX-2

There is a default action, choose clone or retain.
Define exceptions for those parts that should be treated other than the default action (clone, retain, replace).

Do you want to keep the name of the top-assembly (retain) ?

This is not possible, if you assign a clone to a component in an assembly, the assembly itself will be assigned clone automatically.

RE: using assemblies cloning in NX-2

Hi Kadego,

I have found cloning assemblies under the same name to be an invaluable tool when creating different versions, for file management and for preparing sub-sets for vendors. I have a free utility ("Save All As") posted on SolidNX.com that will allow you to save the active assembly (or loaded parts) under the same name but into a different directory.

Cheers,

Hi Mike
We downloaded your utility but when we tried to run it UG told us we needed an add-on called UG-open.
Is that the case? Or is there some way around spending AU$20000.
As you probably gathered we are relatively new to UG.

RE: using assemblies cloning in NX-2

No, there is no way around that aspect of Mike's program. You will need UG/Open API execute to run it.
