Volume Calculations for Partially Filled Vessels and Heads

Volume Calculations for Partially Filled Vessels and Heads

(OP)
Gentlemen,

I am in a foriegn location and without access to my normal hard copy resources (which in this case would probably be the GPSA manual). I am looking for an internet reference for calculating the volume of partially filled horizontal and vertical vessels with different type heads. This is for start-up and operating solvent inventory calculations. What would be most useful is an excel addin with functions that could take the appropriate arguements and convert level to volume. Otherwise I would like to be pointed to a program, formulas, or a set of data tables.

I previously made a post on this question to which there were two replies, but which the management deleted (or lost) and will not respond as to why. Presumably either the fact I mentioned Excel in the title raised a flag to EngTips, or one of you was abusive in your response (which I doubt). In any event I am involved in serious work and would very much like to get that information again.

Thanks,
sshep

I believe this question has been addressed elsewhere on the forum.  Other individuals may help in the search for the thread.

RE: Volume Calculations for Partially Filled Vessels and Heads

I have an excellent paper which gives equations for various dished ends and types of vessels. Give me your e-mail id.

Here is one thread I found: Thread770-12414

The above mentioned papers were downloaded from the site http://unicon.netian.com/tank_vol_e.html

Guidoo!

Thanks for reminding me.

Thanks! You guys are great.

quark, thanks also for the offer to email. I downloaded the good stuff from that site, but I would like what ever you have if it is different. Posting my email here is one reason a post can be deleted, but my email is in my profile if they finish updating that page in the near future.

cheers, sshep

sshep:

Guidoo was close, but your answer is in Thread794-59784.

There is no telling when the member profiles page will be available and email addresses are frowned on.  I can relate to your situation and can help with the answer.  Let me know.
