Steam droplet size distribution

Steam droplet size distribution

Steam droplet size distribution

(OP)
Dear All
We have a problem with the quality of pure steam from a pure steam generator. In fact conductivity is elevated.
I have made the calculations for to determine what is the minimum diameter of the drops of water that are settled by the gravity; I have used for the calculation the formula of Souders-Brown.
To this point I have need to know if a statistic method exists for determining what is the distribution of the dimension of the drops in the steam. In this way it is possible to know if the separate drops are the most greater part in comparison to the totality of the water present in the steam.
Help!!
Thank

RE: Steam droplet size distribution

Your problem is with wet steam or conductivity?

Our problem is wet steam perhaps due to high velocity of steam.

RE: Steam droplet size distribution

In most clean steam applications there is usually a separator on the outlet of the generator or near the steam end user that should remove most entrained liquid.  In my opinion, you should not be calculating the size of the drop but try to get rid of them altogether.
Also, should you not be using high quality water that has very low conductivity in the first place?

The plant has a demister to the exit of the steam and it will be fed with water bi-osmosed.So with this kind of water i'm sure that we won't have problems and the demister guarantees us a certain percentage of elimination. In any case to test the performaces we feed the plant with softened water. This is very important for us because if the plant present bad results with this test, probably we will have problem with LAL (Microbiological) test when the inspection will arrive. For this reason we try to calculate the droplet size distribution in the steam flow.
