Tubes testing
Tubes testing
(OP)
I have a problem for piping where our supplier replace the hydrostatic testing by eddy current according to ASTM 312.
Is it available?
We are a contractor for engineering, procurement, and construction for a chemical project.
And we have a purchase specification for piping approved by our client who specifie the hydrotest.
Many thanks

RE: Tubes testing
So if you did not specify hydrotest the manufacturer is free to choise.
RE: Tubes testing
I presume that the system will be hydrotested after it is built?
You can always hire someone to hydro the pipe if they are hung up on requiring it.
ET is a much more sensitive test than hydro. Hydro will only detect trhough wall defects where ET will find internal defects also. Mill like ET because it is dry, fast and less expensive.

Corrosion never sleeps, but it can be managed.
