Utility lines of a foundation

Utility lines of a foundation

Utility lines of a foundation

(OP)
I would like to know an average distance in between utility lines in a foundation plan. I would like to know how far apart the water line must be from the sewer the gas and cable and telephone..... please help...

RE: Utility lines of a foundation

I would consult the local governing body to see if they have any standards for such a requirement. But to give you an idea, the city of Detroit requires a minimum clear distance of 18" between any sewer and potable water line. The only way this requirement can be waived is if the water line is encased with concrete where it crosses the sewer. I have not heard of any other requirements for other utilities, but I would guess that there are other minimum space requirements from a constructibility standpoint. Good luck.

RE: Utility lines of a foundation

In Illinois the requirement for sewer / water separation is 18" horizontally provided there is also an 18" vertical separation, with the water being above the sewer.  If that vertical separation isn't posssible, then the sewer has to be constructed of water main pipe or the horizontal separtation has to be 10'.   Concrete encasement doesn't change the separation requirement.
