Low Sulfur Fuel Oil

Low Sulfur Fuel Oil

(OP)
We are currently changing our fuel for firing our boilers from bunker C to LSFO. As this is one of the requirements of the government for reducing the emission of boilers especially the sulfur compounds. Anyway, what we had encountered in firing with LSFO was that it had a lot of ashes remaining inside the boilers. This happened even though the parameters of boilers are still ok. Flue gas analyses still is on allowable results? Any thoughts on this?

RE: Low Sulfur Fuel Oil

gladken, Get the full chemical analysis of the FO from your vendor. After doing a combustion analysis, this will tell you what the ash is and how much is generated per pound of fuel combusted. Better yet, get the vendor to do it.

Hope this helps.
