Coefficient Thermal Expansion SS304H

Coefficient Thermal Expansion SS304H

(OP)
Could anyone tell me what is the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion value of SS 304H, for 1150°F?. Where can I found any list of that Coefficient, to any temperature value?

RE: Coefficient Thermal Expansion SS304H

The linear coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) for AISI Type 304 SS (which can be approximated for 304H) at 1150 deg F is reported to be 10.4 X 10^-6 inch/inch deg F.
The range of CTE values for 304 SS are reported as;

1200 deg F 10.4 X 10^-6 in/in deg F
800 deg F  10.1
400 deg F   9.7

The source of this data is from the "Handbook of Stainless Steels" by Peckner and Bernstein.

RE: Coefficient Thermal Expansion SS304H

the cte is listed in various handbooks, in the B31 piping codes material data, etc.

RE: Coefficient Thermal Expansion SS304H

MIL-HDBK-5H has a plot of alpha (CTE) vs. temperature for 300 series stainless steels.
