which version of AutoCAD can I use under winXP?
I have an older version - ACAD 2000 and it doesn't work...

I have used most versions, 2000 and up through 2005 with no troubles.  I think I may have installed R14 once also.  I'm surprised that you are having difficulties.

Make sure your UserType has sufficient priveleges under XP. We are set as PowerUser (because ACAD constantly writes to the registry).
