Oxygen compressor building safety issues

Oxygen compressor building safety issues

(OP)
Hi,

I am looking at issues with oxygen compressor building. Recently came a across thsi problem:
The issue is the comp building is naturally ventilated via the roof apex opening (600 wide runs along the building roof). The interstage PSV and discharge PSV tail piping vents within the building and I am concern about the oxygen rich environment created during PSV lift or due to passing PSV etc.
Has any body seen this problem?

RE: Oxygen compressor building safety issues

I pipe compressed air vents and PSV outlet piping outside of a building.  The fluid itself is not a hazard, but having high-velociy piping exhaust inside of a building can stir up enough dirt in the air to cause a personnel hazard.  I don't think I would have any hesitation requiring the same thing with an O2 compressor.

If you do go outside the building, you may have to upsize your exhaust piping to get the dP across the PSV high enough to have choked flow (you have to check the arithmetic).
