earthquake construction

(OP)
didn`t know what other forum to try, But looking for help. I may purchase a small (new) property in Turkey but have slight reservation regarding construction as it is in an eartquake zone. I know if I ask about construction I am likely to get `correct` answers. Anyone got any ideas on how one can check that the construction is correct and that they don`t use sub standard materials. What questions to ask and what to lookk for.
If there is another site I should go to please advise.
thanks

RE: earthquake construction

You could try contacting the Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers (http://www.imo.org.tr/) and arrange for a qualified engineer to undertake an inspection.
