Has the name of this thread been changed??

Has the name of this thread been changed??

Has the name of this thread been changed??

I am somewhat confused.  I thought the name of this thread was "Heat Transfer & Thermodynamics engineering".  However, it contains threads about the noise level of apartment air-conditioners, fixing a stress corroded cracked spiral, sootblower controls, de-icing a wind girder, etc. ... none of which have anything to do with either heat transfer or thermodynamics.  Has the name of this thread been changed without our being notified or what?

RE: Has the name of this thread been changed??

Milton,

I concur with your observation in general, and tend not to respond to those off topic, other than to recommend their relocation, but I would like to comment that I did see the sootblower control question as one pertaining to heat transfer. Eventhough I thought it should have been in either the boiler forum or the power generation forum, I answered rather than making that comment.

The proper control or lack there of can have a major impact on the heat transfer capability of a fired device, so I did think it proper for discussion in this forum.

Thanks for your helpful and insightful response ... why didn't I think of that?

Milton, red flag any threads that don't belong in the forum. It is very polite, but not compulsory, to advise where they might better be posted.

Admittedly in a low volume forum like this one off topic posting is not a big problem, but I can see your point.

Cheers

Greg Locock
