I am about to replace  stuffed spherical roller bearings on a pinion shaft which goes hub - bearing - integral gear - bearing.
The shaft is about 14" diameter, hub is keyed and bearing is press/shrink fit. Hub is about 17" long
Planned procedure is:
Heat hub to around 100 deg C with gas and remove using strongback and 25T hydraulic ram.
Gas cut off bearings.
Dress shaft if required.
Induction heat and fit new bearings
Heat and refit hub.

Time is the enemy.
Any recommendations so speed things up or reduce the risk of problems?

Have you considered using a Cooper Split bearing in this position? Then you wouldn't have to keep taking the gear off.

You might find that when you heat the hub the heat quickly conducts into  the shaft which also then expands so minimising the advantage of heat. Just my own feeling, but, for the size of your components i wonder if 25 ton puller is sufficiently strong.  Maybe your bearing is a 23072 spherical roller.My team spent all today pulling such a bearing - 14.4 inches dia. We used 8 jacking bolts. I guessed the force to be at least 32 tons. On the other hand, it might fall off. It all depends on the original interference dimensions and if they have rusted or fused together with time.  Good Luck. DW
