sheet size "custom"?

sheet size "custom"?

sheet size "custom"?

(OP)
i have created a new sheet formate and am haveing problems with linking the sheet size. in this case i started with the default a-landscape format and deleted all the default notes and boarders in order to make a new custom title block.  when i link the sheet size to a text note it always says the size is "custom" not A or B or whatever.  am i doing something wrong?  it would be a real pain to make all my sheet formats for different drawing sizes by only deleating the default pre-provided items that i won't end up using.  whats up?

also if i reload the sheet format it places the new format over the old one but does not delete the old one.  the old stuff is still editable but the newly inserted format is not accessable.  why is this?  i'm new to 2004 (new company).  i did not have these kinds of problems with 2003.  can anyone help me?

RE: sheet size "custom"?

1) You have to make the sheets and save them as a new name - File\Save Sheet format.
2) Give it a name.
3) Then start a new drawing with a particular sheet size or pick the width and height yourself.
4) Add your Sheet format to the sheet.
5) Then do a File\Save As - (Change the Save as type to Drawing Template) and save it.

Now if you have all your File Locations set up correctly, then next time you click File\New - You will see your new template with your Sheet format and new sheet size. This template also contains your Document properties that you setup when you were first making this template.

RE: sheet size "custom"?

i've done all that. saved the sheet format, saved a new template ect.  the templates comes up when i do file/new and all that.  the sheet format is also available when i want to choose a new one in the properties.  thats not the problem.  its just that the sheet size says "custom"  and that i can't reload a sheet format without this strange behavior of placing the new stuff over the old stuff and then not letting me edit the new inserted sheet format info.  as a matter of fact the newly inserted format info is only visable when i'm editing the sheet format, when i go back to "edit sheet" only the old (what should have been deleted) sheet format info is there.  very strange.

thanks for your quick response.

also we are using SW2004 sp 0.0 and W2000PRO.  could this be a bug that was fixed in later service packs?

RE: sheet size "custom"?

FYI...SP4.2 just came out

RE: sheet size "custom"?

Jon,
Give this a try. Open your drawing that shows the newly inserted format info is only visible when you’re editing the sheet format. Now click File in the main menu, and then click “Save Sheet Format…” Create a new part and see if you can put that part onto your newly saved template.
