Requirements For ASME BPE weld tracking

Requirements For ASME BPE weld tracking

Requirements For ASME BPE weld tracking

(OP)
I have a database I am working on for tracking orbital welds and would like to know if all of the requirements for what data is required to be tracked is contained in the ASME spec or does it change greatly between customers and projects.

What I track now is Welder, Machine, Program, Head, GasBottle, Heat Numbers and ISO/Line #.

How is this normally performed in industry?Spreadsheet, Paper orother.

Thanks

RE: Requirements For ASME BPE weld tracking

I do not understand correctly, can you explain exactly what you are doing?
You track what is required in the WPS from PQR, WPQ welding parameters and all that gas to be used and all other info in the WPS, anything else is not required but you can include it.

RE: Requirements For ASME BPE weld tracking

I have written a program that allows the user to enter a weld by line/drawing number and include the heatnumbers joined, the gas bottle certificate used, the weld head, the weldingmachine, the welder, and the inspection results. This allows the user to print out the acceptance percentage by welder, machine, weld head, gas certificate etc.. In addition the heat number database allows the user to login heat numbers upon receipt and during the data entry stage, any invalid heat numbers would be noticed if they didn't alreadyoccur in the database.

MJ 10 of the BPE code requires weld maps. The program I wrote for a company had much more tracked than what I could find in the asme BPE code. The purpose may have only been for reporting reasons or project requirements. I am trying to find out if this level of tracking is normal for the bioprocessing equipment industry.

I prepared the program based on what they told me they tracked however I cannot find any requirements for tracking some of the information. Someone in another forum mentioned an FDA specification so I am looking for that now.

Any information is helpful.

Have a good day
