adding a title block

hi all,

having trouble adding a customer title block to my drawing... what is the correct method?

thanks

RE: adding a title block

its ok all i found the method

File - Import - Part

RE: adding a title block

Actually there is a better method with UG. The imported part of a format has the full (hundred's) entity count. Create a pattern file of the format and then use the pattern format. This comes in as 1 entity and it cannot be moved or changed. To create a pattern file, it is under File-Options-Save options.

RE: adding a title block

Actually with Custom Symbols it is even easier, since it comes in as one entity, and it will remain with the drawing "forever". Simply create a custom symbol of the empty title block/format, choose which items you would like to be editable (drawing name, part number, etc), and with one button click you can place a drawing format.

RE: adding a title block

Ben

We were using patterns.  They appeared in the part correctly and seemed to work well ... except that when the part was next retreived by someone they didn't see the title block pattern.  It was still there.  In fact, it could be replaced with the same pattern.

Finally we quit using the pattern.  Perhaps that was not the best choice.  Have you any ideas why the pattern was not visible?

RE: adding a title block

You need to point to the pattern location in the ugii_env.dat file

RE: adding a title block

Specifically, it is the UGII_PATDIR environment variable that needs to point to your patter file location.

Adding Formats has always been an ideal area to automate. By programming the pattern additions, matching attributes can be set at the same time, synchronized with master-models, as well as a host of other standard checks and balances.

Thanks ewh and SolidNX.

I missed setting that environment variable.
