agrogate filters / recycling glass filter blockages

Anyone any experience, solutions for recycling glass - Local council puts it through a hammer mill to produce fine agregate (sand) of different sizes for possible different applications, filters are supposed seive out the plus (what ever size). PROBLEM; the filter is a vibrating steel plate with (the top one) holes of approximately 6mm dia. The product of the hammer mill allows glass shards to come through approximately the same size as individual filter holes, the glass going in the mill is wet (outside storage) the combination of the glass shards & the damp fines soon blocks the filter holes - causing nearly everything to be channeled through the 'oversize' route. The mill manager is looking at better hammers - they are wearing out after 8-16 hours?????

SO THE PROBLEM IS; WET GLASS & BLOCKING FILTERS
