Vacuum Pumps-PD vs centrifugal

Vacuum Pumps-PD vs centrifugal

Vacuum Pumps-PD vs centrifugal

(OP)
Does anyone know how to relate the horsepower and cfm of a centrifugal pump to a positive displacement pump?  Are there any conversion factors to relate the two in terms of the amount of liquid that can be picked up by each one for a given height?

thanks

Marc

mustangs:

This post is very confusing as written.  You title the thread as a vacuum pump subject and then you ask about a centrifugal pump.

That is why I hate the use of the term "vacuum pump"; it is a misnomer that tends to confuse.  Pumps pump liquids; pumps don't pump gases.  Please clear up the confusion and state if we are to address a centrifugal (or PD) pump lifting a liquid up through their suction line.  In other words, are you addressing the liquid lift capability of each of the two pumps?

Centrifugal and PD liquid pumps are rated and classified in liquid volumes (gallons, liters, etc.) and not in cfm (cubic feet per min).  Vacuum devices are rated in gaseous displacement or mass displacement - not in liquid volume displacement.  There is no relationship between a centrifugal pump and a positive displacement pump.  They operate on totally different mechanical principals.

Go to different Vac-truck sales floor. Sewer vac-trucks use both types. Each type has pluses and minuses
