reversible gear box (small)

reversible gear box (small)

(OP)
I am looking for a small gear box that can switch directions without the drive motor changing directions.  It does not need to be very big.  Basically I would like to make a shuttle that goes back and forth simply by bumping the wall and switching directions.  I know I've seen these on toy cars and such where it hits a wall and reverses a gear box.  Does anyone know where I can find one of these?

Thanks,
Mark Koenig

Such kind of gear trains probably use one idler gear which is connected to a mechanism that connects and seperates it after the crush. So this idler will change the direction of the transmission output shaft. The mechanism is probably a kind of spring system. This is what I can say. You told the answer you can get a toy and get the gear train.

Sincerely
