Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

Has any one received parasolid files from Pro-E at all?  We have Pro-E also and have had no luck importing the parasolid models, SW states invalid file.  Any ideas.  Thanks.

RE: Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

Only SW05 can bering in Wildfire files.

See the Release Notes on SW05. It tells you there

Wildfire 1 and 2 Geometry.

If it's a parasolid what version of parasolid?

SW05 saves from 15 and lower - so it probably reads the same as it saves.

SW04 saves the same parasolid versions.

RE: Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

SolidWorks can not currently open any WildFire files.  Only prt. files from previous versions of ProE.  You may be able to export them as an iges or step file and then open them in solidWorks.

As my intial post was asking was about parasolid files.  I believe the release of the kernal used is version 10.  But I might be wrong.

RE: Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

In the Help file of SW it states "The Parasolid translator supports all Parasolid versions up to and including version 15".

Click help / Click Index tab / Type "Parasolid" / Double Click on Parasolid Files

From my undesrtanding Pro-E can't save out as Parasolid files. SW can actively open Pro-E files anyway.... ahy not just open the native Pro-E file? Only in your Subject line do you mention Wildfire. So what files are you trying to open in SW and which version?

SW05 will open Wildfire 1 and 2 Geometry.

SW04 and 05 will open the Cryptic files from Pro-E.

SW04 and 05 will open Parasoild files up to version 15.

RE: Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

Scott,
I am running 2004 as of now because I have not got the 2005 CD yet.  Pro_E Wildfire 2.0 can export parasolid models at version 10 I found out.  There are a number of UG guys that get this to work without error, but every time I try SW says the file is invalid.  The reason I want this to work is that importing the native files results in data loss some of the time and that 10 percent of the time is not reliable enough for me.  The Pro_E importer in SolidWorks works fine on your general models but when you start deealing with offset parting, draft, blends, and fillets it starts to get overwhelmed.  (even when just importing a body)  That is why I want to get the parasolid to work for those 10% situations.  Just another trick under the hat if you will.

RE: Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

You can Download SW05 from the website and install it. It works extrmely well see Thread559-103379. Then import the Wildfire files in directly.

Not sure about the Parasolid coming from Wildfire though. Try opening those parasolid files your making from Wildfire, and open them into Solidedge. If Solidedge can open it, then I would call your VAR and express this problem to them.

Thanks Scott.  Do you know when SW05 is schedualed to ship?

RE: Pro-E Wildfire2.0 parasolid files

This has my interest.  Parasolid is a pretty dependable format.

Chances are, the PS geometry data itself is in order, but there is a problem with the header in the file.  I've experienced problems due to Pro/E export file headers before.

Perhaps you could open the parasolid file in a text editor (like notepad) and compare the header with that of a parasolid file produced by SW or UG.  Maybe delete the header information entirely (this has solved issues translating Pro/E DXF to AI in the past).
