Need help on Motec ECU
Need help on Motec ECU
(OP)
Everyone
I am not a calibrator or electronic engineer, however, I need to conduct a study regarding the use of Motec ECU for conventional engine. I understand that Motec ECU is strong in term of aftermarket applications like racing or hot rod.
However, I need to find out on whether Motec ECU can perform functions like secondary air injection, OBD, special cold start program, etc. I am studying more on how Motec ECU can perform functions similar to OEM ECU and not the racing applications.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

RE: Need help on Motec ECU
Personally, I have used them in the lab several times and it works well and is relatively easy to program for different functions.

RE: Need help on Motec ECU
Thanks for your reply. I have talked to motec rep, their business is not so strong in this region. I am also not convinced since this is the first time my group is considering a big ECU company other than Siemens, Bosch and Mitsubishi.
Anyhow, i hope you dont mind myself asking you questions? 1) When you mentioned about easy to program for different functions, Motec also supplied the programs? How extensive are the program?
2) Is it possible that the user make a new program to support new function and boolean say for cold start and emission improvement?
I would really appreciate if you can share your experience in programming the Motec ECU.

Try calling them direct.
You will most probably find that being influenced by Aussi culture, they will be very direct, more accommodating, more flexible and less formal than you might expect if you are accustomed to dealings within Japan, USA or North Western Europe.

RE: Need help on Motec ECU
Thank you so much. The one that I am dealing with over here is just a dealer and not really a Motec employed engineer or calibrator. So I really need no BS assurance from a reliable source.
Anyhow, I will list down my questions and email them for answers.
