low pressure gas flow
low pressure gas flow
(OP)
Here in my country the gas piping for low pressure is handled by the POOLE formula , for natural gas up to 200 mm water column.
The formula is as follow
D= ( F^2 * 2 * S* L / H )^1/5
where
D= DIAMETER [CM]
F= FLOW [M3/HOUR]
S= SPECIFIC WEIGHT [0.65 FOR NATURAL GAS]
L= LENGTH [M]
H= ALLOWED PRESSURE DROP IN MM WATER COLUMN.
I did a search for some background on this formula , with no results.
Could you give me some reference to it?
Thanks in advance

F = 1350 D2.5 (ΔP/L.S)0.5
D, pipe diameter, inches
F, std cfm
L, pipe length, yards
S, gas specific gravity, dimensionless
ΔP , inches water
with an equivalent friction factor f= 0.0291
I've not tried to adjust to metric units. However, I hope this is what Pardal was after.

Maybe the 25362's paper is not at his personal library , but I have a Phisic Book whose author is A GANOT published in PARIS and MADRID in 1972 , with pictures, not photo ,of the aparatus presented at the 1867 UNIVERSAL EXPOSITION OR TRADE OF PARIS .
If I'm not wrong this was when the EIFFEL tower was set.
This book was the one used by our pre pre engineering students in my country , Argentina by that time.
About the formula I will check it too

it is 1872

This is an excellent piece of information by 25362 as usual.

Yes , we only use steel pipe , new , so the friction factor could be asumed , and the temperature is the normal on a house or building.
