Revision Table Help
Revision Table Help
(OP)
Hello All,
I hope some of you can help me with a problem I am having. I need to generate a custom revision table. I create the column titles as I want them and then go to the cell under each column to link the cell to a custom property I have created and it does not update. What is the deal? I have done this with my template properties and it works fine. What am I doing wrong? I want it so that you enter the data at the File\Properties in the drawing and then for it to automatically update. Any Ideas?
Anxiously waiting.....

RE: Revision Table Help
I'm trying to set up a system through solidworks that will make this data easier and to automatiaclly update when info is changed.
I am looking for the best possible way. I though maybe a design table but I am not sure how to work with those.
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.
Still Anxiously wating.....
RE: Revision Table Help
I do have my custom properties in the sheet itself. but still it does not work. It just puts the code into the cell and does not update the info when entered. Any other ideas?

RE: Revision Table Help
I must be doing something wrong. I am doubleclicking on the cell in the revision table and entering the property link there. All it does is puts the property code in the cell and not the info I typed into the custom properties.
How did you achieve the results?
RE: Revision Table Help
2) Then in the Property Manager to your left, you will see a button called Column Properties.
3) Pick that button.
4) Then pick Custom Properties option.
5) Click the down arrow and find your Custom Property in the list.

RE: Revision Table Help
I don't know why mine isn't working. I thought I was doing it correctly. It just is not showing up correctly.
Can you give specific property values to each cell in the column. Otherwise how do I control the revision decriptions from each revision. If I assign a custom property called "rev description" to the column. won't the whole column be labled with the same description?
Maybe I need more clarification on how the revision table works in solidworks.

You could try doing a repair in the mean time to make sure there isn't anything broke in SW. See FAQ on installs on directions on How to...

RE: Revision Table Help
This is a Limitation to Revision Tables. The reason that is, is because of ANSI Standards. It follows the standard and doens't allow users to change that data other than the fact that you can use the default custom Properties in the File properties menu.
