Since most folks in this forum are seriously interested in the correct usage of the English language, many of you might want to pick up a copy of Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style." This is a thin book with some useful pointers about correct usage. It isn't the be-all and end-all, but it's logical and easy to read. After you've read this book, anything you begin writing will benefit as you apply these small principles.
It's probably still available, new, in paperback in bookstores. It also shows up frequently, paperback and hardcover, in used bookstores. I always buy it when I see it second-hand, and pass it on to friends who express an interest.
"White" is E. B. White of "Charlotte's Web" fame, and Strunk was an instructor of White's.
Enjoy!

Another couple of good ones by Karen Elizabeth Gordon are:
The well tempered sentence. A punctuation handbook for the Innocent, the Eager, and the Doomed.
The Transistive Vampire. A handbook of grammar for the Innocent, the Eager, and the Doomed.

...and there is "Eats, Shoots & Leaves", by Lynne Truss ("The runaway #1 British Bestseller").
She is, to my American "ear", not always as funny as she thinks herself to be, but it is good for a few laughs, and perhaps a few lessons.
