version 15 and windows xp

version 15 and windows xp

(OP)
We have recently upgraded to Solid Edge version 15 and have
4 machines running v15 and windows 2000 and 1 with v15 and Windows XP
On the machine with windows xp we have the problem that
in Part environment to finish e.g. a protrusion takes ages
to execute, since loading windows xp
Has anyone else had this problem with XP?

RE: version 15 and windows xp

I have a few questions:

1. Which service pack are you using for Solid Edge?

2. Have you installed service pack 2 for windows xp?
- it is advisable to stay away from service pack 2 as it has a very long list of software it renders useless (so much for 2 + years of development hey microsoft)

3. Are the graphics cards different in each machine?

One thing you can try in the meantime: from the part environment go to tools --> option --> View tab and change your "Application Display" to something different.  Software driven has given us good results.

RE: version 15 and windows xp

I'm not seeing any problems with XP SP2 on ver 15 SP6 yet.  Is anyone seeing any problem?

RE: version 15 and windows xp

Check with your local computer guru.  Generally there are issues with network settings (and upgrades)and XP.

As a test, try saving and recalling from your local drive instead of the network.  I suspect that there won't be an issue there.

XP needs substantially more resources to run than W2K.
So more questions...

What is the CPU & speed?

How much RAM is installed & what type?

What is the VM set to?

Have you turned off all the "fancy" crap in XP? (pointer shadows, animated menus, etc)
