Drawings colapsing randomly
Drawings colapsing randomly
(OP)
I have a major problem...
Please read carefully.
I have an assembly (frame). It has different configs which change its size (height and width). One of the part's <that controls width>(within this assembly only) length is driven by a sketches' refference dimension via an equation. That part has only one config. So when you change configs the sketch and equation controls and updates its length.
Now, my problem happens when this assembly is put into another assembly (eg; frames and rails) and then that assembly is put into a drawing.
What is happening is that the drawing is colapsing and some how then making the assembly (frame) within this assembly (frames and rails) colapse.
When I say colapse I mean the part I was talking about doesn't update (the length is not changing to new size). Its like theres two different configs on the drawing and SW can not decide which one to update, but thats not the case.
There is no problems (errors) within either assemblies.
Also, I have no problems when putting the assembly (frame) into drawings.
Any ideas very much appriciated.

RE: Drawings colapsing randomly
Have you tried using a ctrl-q for each part, assy and drawing?

In you assembly, right-click the component and select "Component properties..", and see which radio button is toggled under "Referenced comfiguration". Change this setting so the component is referencing a specific configuration.
If your assembly has multiple configurations, you may want to control this with a design table.

RE: Drawings colapsing randomly
I have also tried opening every part (like Scott suggests) and rebuilding each one. That doesn't work.
The componant props are set to "use named config" and each drawing view refer the same config, which can be a problem if they don't. Also, it seems when I turn the "last saved config" on and show the correct config in the model, it rebuilds. But after a while it breaks.
I have tried Design tables before and find them very hard when using derived configs. I think the problem there is we only have excel 97. Things get a bit funny sometimes.
Very frustrating.
Any more suggesetions??
Thanks
